Fernando Gil de Bernabé

Managing Director, European Service Providers, Internet Business Solutions Group, Cisco

Mr. Gil de Bernabé is the Managing Director of the Internet Business Solutions Group for the Service Provider market in Europe. He leads a team of senior consultants drawn from the top management consultancies and the industry, who provide trusted and independent advice on the strategic issues shaping the business of telecommunications.
 
Fernando joined Cisco in late 1999 as Group Manager to build the IBSG SP practice in EMEA. He was promoted to Director in 2001 and to Managing Director in October 2003. In August 2005 he was appointed to his current role with responsibility for operations in Europe and Emerging. He is also an active member of the senior executive team that defines Cisco’s strategy in the telecommunications business. Most recently he has led Cisco’s worldwide initiatives “SP2015: Scenarios of the Future” and “Consumer Broadband”.

Prior to Cisco, Mr. Gil de Bernabé was an Associate Director in the Telecommunications, Information Technology, Media, and Electronics Practice of Arthur D. Little in Silicon Valley. Before, he worked for two software startups in Barcelona, Spain.

Mr. Gil de Bernabé holds an M.B.A. and a Management of Technologies (MOT) from the Haas School of Business at U.C. Berkeley (California, USA). He previously graduated (BEE and MS) from the School of Telecommunications Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) in Spain. He is fluent in English, Spanish, and Catalan and has five years of German studies. Fernando fenced competitively while in school and today is an avid sailor.
