Peter Covell
Vice President and Chief Operations Officer, Vimpelcom
Peter Covell has served as Vice President, Chief Operations Officer since May 2006.
Mr. Covell came to VimpelCom after he had worked on the privatization of Bulgarian Telecommunications Company in 2003-2004. When the Company was privatized, he assumed the position of Chief Operations Officer, working in such capacity in 2004-2006.
Prior to Bulgaria, Mr. Covell had been with GTS (Global Telesystems) in 1994-2002. During this period he had held various Operational & Technical executive positions in Russia, China, Central and Western Europe.
Additional overseas assignments were performed for British Gas, Plessey, Cable & Wireless, Marconi, and The World Bank.
Mr. Covell began his Engineering career in the Royal Navy where he served in 1974-1981.
