Valerio Zingarelli
CEO Babelgum
Valerio Zingarelli was appointed as CEO Babelgum in July 2007. Babelgum is the innovative new peer-to-peer web-TV platform founded by Silvio Scaglia. Prior to this, Valerio was an independent member of the Board of Directors of Fastweb, the second largest Italian fixed network telecommunications operation.
From 2002 to 2005 he was Global Director of Networks and Service Platforms at Vodafone Group, in charge of managing all the Group’s technology activities and strategy, including customer terminals. Before that, he had also been Chief Technical Officer at Omnitel (prior to its acquisition by Vodafone), the new mobile communications operator after the introduction of de-regulation in Italy, where he played a key role in building the company from scratch.
Prior to joining Omnitel, Valerio worked for Alenia – Italy’s primary aerospace company - and for CSELT, the research centre of Telecom Italia. Valerio’s management roles are complemented by academic activity as Associate Professor at the Politecnico of Turin since 1991 to date, focussing on Electronic Communications and Digital Transmission.
